Montana is regarded as one of the best places in the world to go fly fishing because of it’s diverse fisheries coupled with a mind dizzying array of them to choose from. This page is to help inform and provide information on waters that we fish as well as waters that we guide on. This is just a short list of some of the waters we fish and if you have questions about any of them listed here or ones that are not please do not hesitate to give me a shout and I will try to help you get the information that you need for your next fishing adventure.
The descriptions of the rivers will be broken down into unique sections of each river so that you can get a feel for the river and what methods we employ for fishing them. I will also provide a short over view of hatches that occur on the rivers, however keep in mind that Montana’s seasons vary from year to year. I have seen PMD hatches start on the Yellowstone as early as June 7th and as late as July25th the following year. Use these hatch dates and conditions as a starting point but remember that they change from year to year. Mother nature changes her mind a lot and nothing is ever set in stone!
